If your dog needs a vet right now, find your part of the city below, tap Call, and ask whether a vet is in the building. If nothing is wrong tonight, find the clinic nearest you and save its number, because the worst time to look for a night vet is at night.
Sixteen Bengaluru vets in our directory publish 24-hour opening, seven days a week, and five more stay open until 10 pm or later. Some keep a vet on the premises all night and others have a nurse who calls one in, so the first thing to ask on the phone is whether a vet is there. Pick by route as well as distance: at night, 8 km on a clear road can be quicker than 3 km through a blocked junction.
Signs that can't wait until morning
Go tonight if you see any of these. Call the nearest clinic on this page while someone else gets the dog ready.
- trouble breathing, or blue or very pale gums
- collapse, or a seizure that lasts more than a few minutes or keeps coming back
- a swollen, tight belly with retching that brings nothing up, especially in big, deep-chested dogs
- rat poison, chocolate, grapes or raisins, human medicines, or anything else toxic
- a road accident, even if your dog seems fine afterwards
- bleeding that doesn't slow with firm pressure
- straining to pee with nothing coming out
- heatstroke: heavy panting, drooling and weakness after heat or exercise
For heatstroke, start cooling your dog on the way with room-temperature water (not ice) and a fan, and keep the car's AC running.
What to say when you call
Whoever picks up needs to decide quickly whether they can help, so give them the facts first:
My dog is a __-year-old [breed], about __ kg. [What happened] started about __ ago. Is a vet there now who can see us? How long will it take you to be ready?
Then ask three things on the same call:
- Can you do what my dog is likely to need tonight? After a road accident that means X-rays. If your dog has eaten something, it may mean making them vomit. After a collapse, it means oxygen and a drip.
- If you can't, where would you send us instead?
- What is the night fee? Night visits cost more than daytime ones, and it's better to hear it now than at the desk.
